Lion’s Mane are fully developed and ready for harvest when the spines begin to elongate (and reach 7mm in length) and the mushroom becomes spongy feeling when squeezed gently with your fingers (Figure 4). Overly mature mushrooms will quickly release spores which show as a white powdery dust or flakes. The lion’s mane mushroom can be harvested in about 6 to 8 weeks after inoculating your substrate. Growing in bags is debatably the easier option if you are just starting out, but if you already have some growing experience under your belt then consider when you want your mushrooms to be harvestable. Once your lion’s mane mushrooms start fruiting, it won’t be long before you can harvest and enjoy them. In as little as two weeks, you could be feasting on delicious, fresh lion’s mane mushrooms.
Harvesting can occur approximately 6 to 8 weeks after substrate inoculation. Bag cultivation is simpler for beginners, while more experienced growers can tailor their harvest timing. After the fruiting process starts, it takes around two weeks for Lion’s Mane mushrooms to be ready for consumption. Visit FungiTown’s Growing mushrooms at home for more. BUY NOW
